Founded by professional sailor Matthieu Marfaing, MM Sailing combines over 25 years of international racing experience with a strong network of leading European water sports brands.
Based in the United States, MM Sailing works closely with sailors, dealers, and watersports centers to provide innovative equipment designed for performance, reliability, and progression on the water.
Through racing, testing, and direct collaboration with manufacturers, MM Sailing ensures that the products offered meet the highest standards of modern sailing and foiling.

Led by Matthieu Marfaing, the team regularly competes in major international multihull events, particularly in the Formula 18 class.
Competition allows the team to stay connected with the highest level of performance sailing while continuously testing equipment and supporting product development.
Over the past decades, Matthieu has achieved numerous international podium finishes and remains actively involved in the global multihull racing community.
MATTHIEU MARFAING
Founder of MM Sailing, Matthieu Marfaing has more than 25 years of international sailing experience.
Raised in a sailing family, Matthieu spent five years sailing around the world as a child before dedicating his life to competitive sailing.
Throughout his career, he has competed in numerous international regattas and achieved over 30 podium finishes. He is a multiple-time North American Formula 18 Champion and continues to compete at the highest level of the class.
In addition to racing, Matthieu has developed MM Sailing into a growing distribution and performance platform connecting European innovation with the sailing and foiling communities across the Americas.

Meet The Team
Matthieu Marfaing
Co-Skipper, Helmsman and Founder of MM Sailing
Originally from Réunion Island, Matthieu Marfaing discovered sailing at an early age when his family embarked on a five-year sailing journey around the world. This extraordinary experience sparked a lifelong passion for the ocean and competitive sailing.
Over the past 25 years, Matthieu has competed at the highest levels of international multihull racing. His career began on beach catamarans such as the Hobie Cat 16 before progressing through a wide range of high-performance boats including Formula 18, Tornado catamarans, skiffs, and offshore multihulls. From beach cats to 60-foot offshore trimarans, he has had the opportunity to sail some of the most advanced boats in the sport alongside world-class sailors.
A multiple-time North American Formula 18 Champion with more than 30 international podium finishes, Matthieu remains deeply involved in high-level multihull competition.
In 2016, he relocated to the United States, where he now lives with his wife and their three children. Alongside his racing career, Matthieu founded MM Sailing, a company dedicated to the distribution, testing, and promotion of high-performance sailing and foiling equipment across the Americas.
Liam Walz
Co-Skipper, Tactician, Crew and Head of Boat Performance at Team MM Sailing USA
Born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, Liam Walz started sailing at the age of twelve when his parents signed him up for sailing lessons. Since then, sailing has become a lifelong passion of his, where he’s spent his time building his skills and competing in various international circuits.
Liam has been sailing multihulls since 2017 where he’s had multiple podium finishes in North American Championships and competed in two World Championships. In the last four years, Liam’s transferred his skills to the International 49er circuit where he currently competes for the US ODP Team. He and his crew are Olympic hopefuls for 2028 in the Men’s Skiff Event.
When he’s not sailing 49ers, Liam can be found competing in other classes such as the F/18, J/70 and moth, as well as coaching a variety of youth sailing classes. youth sailing
Emmanuel Boulogne
Co-Skipper, Helmsman, Chief Designer, Boat Builder, Sailmaker, and Technical Expert at Team MM Sailing USA.
Originally from France, Emmanuel Bourlogne is widely recognized as one of the most respected designers and builders in the world of high-performance catamarans. With decades of experience in both competitive sailing and boat design, Emmanuel has played a key role in the development of some of the most successful Formula 18 platforms.
He began designing and building boats in the mid-1990s and launched his first Cirrus catamaran in 1996. Since then, he has continuously refined his designs, combining deep technical expertise with real racing experience. Nearly three decades later, this ongoing work led to the release of his most recent design, the Cirrus R3 F18, launched in 2025.
In addition to his design achievements, Emmanuel has built an outstanding racing career. He won the Formula 18 World Championship in 2003 and returned to the podium many years later with a third place at the 2020 F18 World Championships, demonstrating both the longevity of his talent and his deep understanding of the class.
Within Team MM Sailing USA, Emmanuel brings unmatched technical knowledge and racing experience, contributing to boat development, sail design, and performance optimization at the highest level of multihull sailing.

Podium Finish at the Edge: MM Sailing USA’s Worrell 1000 Challenge
Formula 18 sailing offers probably the best balance between cost and value, fairness and competition, to the wider range of crew statures from beginners up to Olympic sailors.
TheWorrell 1000 Race 2024, held fromMay 12th to May 24th, was a journey like no other. 1,000 miles of pure endurance, raw speed, and teamwork along the Atlantic coast from Florida to Virginia. Sailing together, Matthieu Marfaing and Emmanuel “Manu” Bourlogneproudly carried the MM Sailing USA colors and finished3rd overall, securing a well-deserved podium in one of the toughest offshore races on the planet. Beyond the result, it was a true test of resilience, trust, and determination, the essence of offshore multihull sailing.
